Travelogue, Day 14: Go Phillies!

This morning I was a very good boy. I woke up around 8 and went for my now-semi-regular run at the beach, and then I went back to my room and did laundry. Laundry! Then I was not so good, going to Taco Bell for lunch. You can never get enough Taco Bell, as far as I’m concerned.

Anyway, last night’s dramatic Dodger loss, which came right after yesterday afternoon’s dramatic Angels victory (my story here), have cleared up my plans for the next few days. This series is guaranteed to go at least five games, and I only have to worry about it through Game 5, so I know I’ll be here through Thursday night. The Dodgers, meanwhile, could be toast if they lose on Wednesday night. So if the Dodgers lose Wednesday, regardless of what happens here over the next games, I’ll be going home on Friday morning. I’ll have a full weekend at home before the start of the World Series. If the Dodgers win on Wednesday, I’ll be here at least through Saturday morning, and at most through Sunday morning.

Now I’m rooting for the Phillies. (See how quickly my allegiances change? It’s all about Team Me.) I suppose I would prefer that the Angels win this series because a) it would be an easier trip to start the World Series and b) they’d have to win in New York, so I wouldn’t get drenched again. But I’m OK if the Yankees win too, because then I’d get to go to New York and see the new ballpark and visit an old friend.

If the Dodgers do win on Wednesday, I think I’m going to switch hotels on Friday. I’ll probably move up to Burbank so I can get out of the Burbank airport easily on Saturday or Sunday morning. Again, avoiding LAX is always preferable, especially if you have to return a rental car.
