Do you want Jeff Kent to confess?

Jeff Kent had a conference call with reporters today, in advance of his going onto the Giants’ Wall of Fame on Saturday. He said a few interesting things, but what was most interesting to me was what he didn’t say. He didn’t say how he broke his wrist in 2002.

I thought that maybe, not that he’s retired and being immortalized by the Giants, he might admit to his lie about washing his truck, say he was sorry, something like that.

Nope.

“There is always a secret, and it will always stay a secret,” Kent said Monday.

He went on after that about how it was no one’s business how he broke his wrist and the media should have just left it alone. It’s not a big deal, now, because he only missed five games because of the injury, but I’m wondering if you, Giants fans, care?

Do you want to hear Jeff Kent say how he broke his wrist in '02?

We all know he did it riding a motorcycle. He missed 5 games. In hindsight, of course we should have re-signed him instead of Edgardo Alfonzo. As I recall, Houston gave him 2 years and 18 Mil, which was very reasonable for his production. He was clutch and had professional AB’s, and it would be prudent to bring him around our “Brain Dead Hackers” to explain to them the nuances of plate discipline, pitch selection, situational hitting, working a pitch count, paying attention to what the pitcher is trying to do to get you out, etc. SOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!
