The A’s opening night lineup is going tonight…

First time all spring they have put out anything even remotely resembling a real lineup.

Here it is…

CF Ryan Sweeney
SS Orlando Cabrera
1B Jason Giambi
LF Matt Holliday
3B Eric Chavez
DH Jack Cust
C Kurt Suzuki
RF Travis Buck
2B Mark Ellis

That ain’t a bad looking lineup at all. Too bad the A’s don’t have any pitching.

I don’t imagine Chavez will be in the game that long tonight….who replaces him first, Nomar, Crosby, or Pennington?

    I’m bummed about the pitching.

  2. Jeff Fletcher says:

Chavez is supposed to get two at-bats, so he’ll be in for as long as that takes. I’m putting my money on Nomar being the first backup to Chavez under normal circumstances.

they do have pitching just inexperienced or not quite mlb ready

which will be worse this season…giants offense or A’s rotation?

i’ll go with giants offense being worse…at least if A’s rotation struggles there’s some depth there…

    braden
    eveland
    gallagher
    cahill
    anderson

this is like line rotations in hockey, a couple struggle send in the next group..mix and match until you get a group that works. no ideal, but not horrible either

    outman
    mazzaro
    gio
    jerome will.
    edg. gonzalez
    simmons

  4. Jeff Fletcher says:

Good question about the Giants offense vs. the A’s pitching. I’d say right now the Giants offense looks a little better, but the A’s pitching has more potential to be good down the line. I think Anderson, Cahill and Mazzaro all can be very good starters, but I don’t really see any of the Giants young, unproven hitters (Sandoval, Ishikawa, Burriss, etc.) being middle of the order hitters. They are all ready to do something in the majors now, though, and I’m not sure that’s the case with the A’s MACs.

  5. Brad Jensen says:

I’ll take the A’s pitching over the Giants offense. There is more talent there.
