I’m going national

Looks like you are going to have to share me, folks.

Starting in April, I will be covering Major League Baseball for AOL Sports at FanHouse.com. It’s a very exciting opportunity for me.

FanHouse was created to be a home for some of the best sports bloggers in the country, but recently AOL has shifted its focus to add some experienced, professional sports writers. This effort began in January with the hiring of nationally-known columnists Jay Mariotti (like me, a graduate of Ohio University), Lisa Olson and Kevin Blackistone. Ed Price, who has covered the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Marlins for the past decade, was the first baseball writer hired, and I’m the second.

At the moment I can’t tell you exactly what I’ll be writing, but I can guarantee you a few things…

  1. It will be entertaining.
  2. It will be analytical.
  3. It will be informative.

Don’t worry, though. I won’t be leaving you. I’ll still have plenty to say here about the Giants and A’s. I covered those teams for 11 years. I can’t just quit cold turkey. Hopefully I’ll bring all of you with me. Read about the Giants and A’s here, and read about everything else at FanHouse.

Let’s enjoy the ride together.

Congratulations on your new endeavor. Please more analytical and informative, than entertaining. There are plenty sports blowhards on the TV trying too hard to be entertaining. Although I am not saying you are a sports blowhard. And please resist beginning every story with, “In the Red Sox clubhouse…” or “Today with the Yankees…”.

Good job, Jeff. Glad to see that worked out for you. Also, good to see a guy who grew up as a Seattle Mariners fan in southeastern Ohio elbowing his way onto the “national” stage. (Which of course always seems to be populated by a host of insufferable New York/Boston hacks.)
