No, not Russ Ortiz. The other one. This guy has been around a while.

Ortiz, who agreed to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training, will be 36 in March. He’s been kicking around the majors since 1999, most notably in six seasons with the Angels. He won 13, 15 and 16 games in his prime, from 2000-’02, helping the Angels to the World Series championship in … never mind.

Anyway, he wasn’t in the majors at all last season. He pitched in Japan, going 4-7 with a 5.82 ERA for the Orix Buffaloes.

He’s going into the bullpen mix for the Giants.
