Clark is going to be doing a job like J.T. Snow, helping on the field and in the community. As for the ratio, Bill Neukom said that’s to be determined:
“If you ask me to guess how much time and energy he’ll spend in the community with fans vs. with our ballplayers, it might be two-thirds community and fan base and one-third baseball, but we’ll learn as we go and adjust accordingly.”

The Giants will make an announcement regarding Will Clark on Wednesday morning. New managing general partner Bill Neukom is scheduled be on the conference call with Will the Thrill. Given Neukom’s presence, I doubt it’s to announce that Clark is going to be the Giants’ roving minor league hitting instructor.

The A’s just announced that radio announcer Ken Korach has signed a two-year extension, bringing him through 2011.
I like Ken. He’s always got good golf stories.

I haven’t written anything about the Giants in a few days, and at the moment I can’t think of anything insightful (it’s January 26 and they haven’t made a roster move in weeks!), so I’ve decided to surf around on a few baseball stat web sites and see what cool little nuggets I can find. Some of these will amaze you, and some will seem perfectly logical.

A’s fans, it’s your turn. Just as Giants fans had their shot to ask questions of director of player personnel Bobby Evans, you guys now can ask questions for A’s assistant GM David Forst. Just email your questions to me at jfletcher@pacbell.net. Include your first name and hometown in your email. Don’t simply post them here as comments.
Remember, he is not allowed to comment on players under contract to other teams, so don’t bother asking about which players the A’s might get in trades. He is allowed to talk about free agents, but I’m guessing he won’t. Questions about players currently on the A’s roster or in the minor leagues are the best.
Start firing the questions now and I’ll have the answers posted within a week.
